Nissaka: Sayo Mountain Pass
Utagawa Hiroshige ( Japanese, 1797 - 1858 )
Travelers on the uphill path to Nissaka pause to look at the "night-weeping stone." According to legend, road bandits killed a pregnant woman on her way to meet her husband, shedding her blood on this stone, which weeps for her each night.
