General Description
Mitsuke, which means "catching sight," was the stage at which travelers coming towards Edo (now Tōkyō) from Kyōto caught their first glimpse of Mt. Fuji. Mitsuke is on the east bank of the Tenryū River, which had to be crossed by ferry in the Edo period (1603-1868).
