General Description

In the Edo period (1603-1868), Ōiso was the setting for a kabuki play, Ōiso Tora Ossana Monogatari (The Youth of Tora of Ōiso), about a courtesan named Tora and her motherly love for her child. The print's subtitle alludes to Tora's weeping in the drama.
