William C. Codman ( British, 1839 - 1921 )
Gorham Manufacturing Company ( American, 1831 )
- designed 1905
This salt cellar and its accompanying pepper shaker (19184.108.40.206.A-B) set features Grape, a pattern introduced by Gorham Manufacturing Company in 1905. The pattern, characterized by scrolling vines and tendrils bearing lush leaves and bountiful clusters of grapes, was applied to holloware, including a tea kettle, a tea service, and a tea caddy in addition to this set. It was first produced 1905, when it retailed for $24, and was reissued in 1912 and 1921.
