General Description

This pepper shaker and its accompanying salt cellar (1991.101.21.1) features Grape, a pattern introduced by Gorham Manufacturing Company in 1905. The pattern, characterized by scrolling vines and tendrils bearing lush leaves and bountiful clusters of grapes, was applied to holloware, including a tea kettle, a tea service, and a tea caddy in addition to this set. It was first produced 1905, when it retailed for $24, and was reissued in 1912 and 1921.
