General Description

The following is the caption by Elizabeth McCausland accompanying the original 1939 edition of Berenice Abbott's Changing New York publication.

The Bowery is the center of barber schools, two or more of which may be seen in every block. The Tri-Boro went out of business soon after it was photographed because new health regulations cost too much for an already waning concern.
