General Description

Following his breakthrough in the fifties, dripping paint and generous, loose splashes of color constituted the mainstay of Brooks' visual repertoire. In this small gouache study, his profound debt to Jackson Pollock, the best-known abstract expressionist, is evident, though it is delivered with Brooks' trademark economy.
