General Description

During his years in Texas, Robertson exhibited frequently with such groups as the Lone Star Printmakers. Robertson's "Winter Afternoon" of 1936 was widely praised for its evocation of the cold light and severe color of the North Texas winter. The artist captures the lifeless aspect of a church abandoned under a leaden sky, but at the same time offers the promise of renewal in the alternating ribbons of green winter wheat.
