General Description

Perry Nichols' painting style changed dramatically over the years, varying from vigorous, dymanic images in the style of the American regionalists to haunting surrealists' compositions in the postwar years. The spiraling composition and aggressive brushwork of Fight in the Corral, recall the work of John Steuart Curry, whose works in the 1930s captured the violent physical energy of the American scene.
