General Description

The approximately 300 mile journey which began at the Nihon Bridge in the heart of Edo (now Tōkyō) terminated at the Great Sanjō Bridge, entrance to the imperial capital of Kyōto. In this final print, the ancient city spreads beyond the Kamo River and into the mountains—peaceful and remote from the revelry, danger, and excitement of the Tōkaidō.
