  • In his 1976 report, Junius B. Bird, curator emeritus of South American archaeology at the American Museum of Natural History, notes: "Vicus, Mochica I, Stirrup spout jars. **4 Seated man, crossed legs, hands on knees. Shell inlays on eyes and wrists, probably restored. Original spout missing, the replacement an acceptable restoration. NOTE: The three preceding items [P28; 4; P26] have details on the bottom which are omitted in later pieces."
