General Description
This hand was found with the Head of the rain god (1967.5) and the pair of crouching frogs (1969.13.1 and 1969.13.2), reportedly as part of a cave shrine grouping in the Mixtec area of Oaxaca. The fingers of this fearsome clay hand pierce the air in a gesture charged with aggressive energy. The original meaning, function, and location of this giant hand remain a mystery.
