General Description

Sarugababa (literally "monkey plateau"), was a plain just outside the town of Futakawa, which is itself now a part of the city Toyohashi. The shop in this scene advertises the local specialty, sweet rice cakes wrapped in oak leaves; approaching are three musicians carrying shamisen, traditional Japanese stringed instruments.
