General Description

In 1977, when Vladimir Horowitz returned to Dallas for his first virtuoso piano recital here in 25 years, he presented the Museum with this handsome painting from his own collection. The layers of color and black outlines betray Rouault's training as a stained glass designer, while the poetic melancholy is characteristic of the artist's feeling for humanity.
