General Description
Interweaving the elements of painting and printing, and working mostly in shades of pink and blue, Maki Tamura combines the past and present, Eastern and Western aesthetics, and a variety of pictorial languages and spatial relationships in this hanging scroll. Text in English and Japanese, Victorian border design, animals, and fairytale scenes are among the visual marks and individual motifs reassembled into a subtle organization suggesting layers accumulated over time.
