Charles Ray ( American, 1953 )
Embedded within the wall, this circle is set spinning so fast that it is nearly impossible to determine it is doing so. Ray comments, "What finally interested me was that the rotating circle's about the size of my head, and I mounted it into the wall at my head height. Have you ever had a conversation with somebody and you're talking away and the person is asking you questions, but you're really thinking about something totally a million miles away? . . . Another aspect of it for me was trying to make something that was so abstract it became real or so real that it became abstract. You go in so far you come out the other side."
