General Description
This porringer with cabochons of sea-green chrysoprase, set atop dramatic loop handles, and the accompanying spoon (2009.54.2) with its simple bowl of wirework finial and cabochon, comprise perhaps the most iconic of all Guild of Handicraft silver designs. Probably a collaboration between founder Charles Robert Ashbee and silversmith W. A. White, it was the source of inspiration for the c. 1902-1914 two-handled porringer with jade cabochons distributed by the American company Shreve, Crump & Low (2007.65).
