General Description

This spoon, with its simple bowl of wirework finial and cabochon, is part of a porringer set. The porringer (2009.54.1) with cabochons of sea-green chrysoprase, set atop dramatic loop handles, comprise perhaps the most iconic of all Guild of Handicraft silver designs. Probably a collaboration between founder Charles Robert Ashbee and silversmith W. A. White, it was the source of inspiration for the c. 1902-1914 two-handled porringer with jade cabochons distributed by the American company Shreve, Crump & Low (2007.65).
