The flower head of a thistle-related plant, Dipsacus Fullonum, which is covered with stiff, hooked bracts. Usually a number of teasels are set into a wooden frame for use. Used to raise the nape on wool cloth. It is a European plant, introduced [to the Americas] by the Spanish.
